Emergency medical care

Emergency medical care is provided if a person is in a critical state with a serious threat to life or health. Everyone has the right to receive emergency medical assistance.

Emergency medical care is medical assistance to a person who is in a critical state of danger to life or health. It is provided by specially prepared medical practitioners.

Everyone has the right to receive emergency medical assistance as provided by law even when they are not covered by State health insurance.

Emergency aid, by definition, has to be provided immediately. The goal is for the emergency medical assistance to be provided:

  • in cities – within 15 minutes of the call
  • in other territories - within 25 minutes of the call

note Call 112 if another person [the final four dot points also apply to you]:

  • is unconscious
  • is not breathing
  • has severe injuries
  • has major bleeding
  • has severe, sudden pain in any part of the body
  • cannot move a part of the body
