What is human trafficking?

Human trafficking is a globally recognized crime, and covers various forms, means, and acts of trafficking.

Human trafficking is the recruitment, transportation, transfer, harbouring or receipt of people through force, fraud or deception, with the aim of exploiting them for profit.

Human trafficking has a serious impact on a person’s human rights. There are several human rights that may be infringed ranging from recruitment to obtaining a remedy for human trafficking, as victims of human trafficking are lured and kept in horrible conditions for the purposes of sexual or labour exploitation, begging, criminal activities, or the removal of organs, and many other forms of exploitation.
