EU citizens and third-country nationals may also be involved in criminal cases as victims of human trafficking.

EU citizens and third country nationals have the same rights to submit an application to initiate criminal proceedings and the same legal rights during criminal proceedings as Lithuanian citizens.

According to the Code of Criminal Procedure, if the person who is involved in a legal case doesn't speak the official language, they have the right to use a language they understand during legal actions. They can also get help from an interpreter, who will be provided by the person in charge of the legal proceedings, for free. This applies to the accused person, the victim and their representative, witnesses, experts, and others involved in the case.
